What We Do

OUR GOALS

Rebuild Human Resource Capacity

Council for Zimbabwe will create a database on Zimcouncil.org, of skilled professionals in the Diaspora, and institutions with relevant experience and resources to improve education in Zimbabwe. Professionals in various fields will be matched with relevant institutions so that the transfer of resources and skills is synergistic.

Establish Scholarship Fund

The Council will establish a scholarship fund and coordinate groups of alumni to help them set up a scholarship fund for their alma mater. Scholarships will support talented but financially disadvantaged students to develop the next generation of university educated professionals.

Rehabilitate Libraries and Supply Educational Materials

In partnership with individuals and institutions (including US Africa Children’s Fellowship, a 501(c)3 non-profit) the Council will raise funds and collect educational materials to distribute to schools identified by a needs assessment.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Sadza in the City

“Sadza in New York City” monthly dinner series allows us to collectively celebrate our culture, meet new people, business contacts, old school friends and just have fun. At the same time, this is an opportunity to learn from each other and some of the experts and professionals at home who occasionally visit.

Sponsor a Teacher

The Council, the U.S. Africa Children’s Fellowship, and the Organization of Rural Associations for Progress (ORAP) have initiated a program to sponsor qualified students to earn a teaching degree by enrolling in a correspondence course or distance learning course.

Dental Supplies to University of Zimbabwe Dental School

In response to the crisis of dental supplies, Zimcouncil sent  supplies to enable students to complete the dental program. Furthermore, the Council continues to collect funds and ship equipment such as Dental Chairs and books, in partnership with the US-Africa Children’s Fellowship.
